The Association of Travel Agents Brunei (ATAB) is the officially recognised travel industry professional association in Brunei Darussalam. The Association works closely with the Brunei Tourism Board and the Brunei Tourism Department in the development of strategies and implementation of procedures aimed to enhance the quality and diversity of travel related services available in Brunei Darussalam.
Since the mid 1990's Brunei's major travel related growth area has
been in the expansion of inbound visitor services. Government initiatives have encouraged the development of Brunei based SMEs, which focus on developing and operating inbound visitor services. From relatively humble beginnings, the inbound activities of our Full and Tour Operator licensed members have grown substantially. Inbound visitor services are now the major travel related growth area in Brunei.
Our members have led the development of a variety of inbound visitor services, including in areas of FIT and group travel, MICE, special interest, eco-activity and educational travel. Our members' range of experience and expertise provides a choice for overseas visitors, agents and wholesalers looking to establish a working relationship with a suitable partner to match their business and travel needs.
Despite the impact of European Colonisation, Brunei has maintained it's traditions and philosophies as exemplified by the Malay Islamic Monarchy concept. Thanks to its financial self-sufficiency, modern Brunei provides a quality of living, sophistication of communication services, environmental and cultural preservation and education services, which still set regional standards.
As a nation where English is widely practiced alongside its official Malay language, Brunei has given its citizens access to knowledge, training and education of international standard.
Apart from making Brunei a very unique visitor destination that stands in dramatic contrast to present neighbours, these factors also mean our members are in a unique position to provide the competent, responsive and cost-effective integration and management of visitor programmes throughout Borneo and further into BIMP-EAGA. Brunei's sophisticated internet capabilities and high English language skills allow members to maintain effective communication with overseas agents and clients. Their regional knowledge, regional language skills and regional area communication networks allow members to create and co-ordinate visitor operations throughout what was historically Brunei, BIMP-EAGA.
Whether you are looking for a short stopover in unique Brunei, a special interest programme that integrates the present contrasting cultures of historic Brunei, a multi-destination vacation in Borneo, a very different MICE venue, or just a break on a long flight, the comprehensive capabilities of our members are waiting to serve you.
